I love movies...I thought, wouldn't it be great to set up a "book club" type group with my friends -- only we watch great movies. Each month we would pick one noteworthy movie to see. Then, we would set aside one night during the month to get-together and discuss.
I created CinephileClub.com to help others cultivate and sustain a thriving club centered around those who love movies -- great movies. CinephileClub.com hand selects movies that have and will stand the test of time because of their exceptional quality.
We want your Cinephile Club to be successful and enjoyable. As such, we have provided a lot of information to assist you in starting and running your club. Whether your interest is:
* the big-budget summer action films or the artsy foreign films
* great screen-writing or cinematography
* great sound-tracks or specific actors
our goal is to assist you in helping make your movie club not only fun, but also a learning experience.
One important decision to customize your club is whether you want a theme. To give you some ideas, these include:
* an indepth study of a writer, director, actor. Respective examples would be the Coen Brothers, Oliver Stone, or Brad Pitt. A compare and contrast would be done across the determined body of work.
* an indepth study of a genre. Examples would be comedy, horror, action, drama. You can even get into sub-genres, such as romatic comedy or maturation drama.
* an indepth study of one specific element of the movie. Examples might be cinematography, plot design, lighting.
* an indepth study of Academy Awards Best Picture nominees for one-year, or winners across years.
* you could even plan to read the screenplay and then watch a movie
These represent just a few examples to highlight the variety of clubs that can set up.
If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, we would love to hear it! Please send an email to comments@cinephileclub.com.
